It effectively enhances the hydration of clay particles.
4.It has a complexing effect on viscose. Sodium hexametaphosphate complexes with calcium and magnesium ions in clay to form water-soluble complexes. Therefore, complexation reduces the concentration of calcium and magnesium ions.
